Celtic Connections 2013 started today (Thu 17th) with an impromptu performance from the great flamenco guitar player Vicente Amigo on the steps of Glasgow 's Royal Concert Hall. Collaboration has traditionally been a core element of the festival and Vicente Amigo's concert Tierra (named after his recent album) is a perfect example of this Vicente joining forces with some regular Celtic Connections musicians - Michael McGoldrick (flute) and John McCusker (fiddle) to produce a unique fusion of flamenco and Celtic music. This year's festival will celebrate 20 years as a cornerstone of Scotland 's cultural calendar with a programme of the very best in folk roots world traditional indie blues and jazz music. Celtic Connections 2013 will take place over 18 days in various venues across the city - picture by Donald MacLeod -17.01.13 - 07702 319 738 - clanmacleod@btinternet.com - www.donald-macleod.com
